Encouraging the Sacred
Open the door – it’s summer. Let in the flies, so what? Open your heart, let out everything you’ve been storing. Don’t you know that the more you let out the more will come in?
It’s summer. Give yourself a day to honor this great and wondrous blessing. Fill this day with prayers and blessings sent to the Great Source that pours forth incessantly. Bless each being that you see with delight, and then bless your self for having noticed it. Know your self as that which you are blessing.
What if Jung is right and we are all, not only in our dreams, everything in our awareness? Bingo!
Thank you, beautiful maple whose shade feels so good on this 93 degree day I’ve been aching to sweat in all winter. Thanks to me, marvelous me, for having made it to this hot day, bless me for making the blessing. Thank you, pansy, for your heady scent; thank you, me, for having a sense of smell, for noticing where this heavenly scent was coming from, for taking the time to bend down and thank the pansy. Thank you, sour-faced person I pass on the street, for helping me notice how blessed I am that at least for this moment right now, I don’t feel as sour as your face looks. I hope that your pain will leave you if only for a moment, so that you, too may feel the blessing of this beautiful day.
Get into the rhythm and notice that you can live life as a round, thanking and blessing, one for you, one for me. And at some point in this dance – perhaps even the very first prayer, you will feel the voice in your heart and in your head say, “Thank you!” And boy, will it be good.
